When former convict Takuro Yamashita returns home to find his wife in bed with another man, he kills her and then opens a barber shop where he finds solace talking to his pet eel. As he helps a troubled woman, Keiko Hattori, with her own demons, she develops feelings for him, but his refusal to confront his past and the stalker from his prison days threaten to destroy their fragile bond.
