When River Tam, a child genius conditioned by Alliance scientists to be a psychic assassin, is rescued by her brother Dr. Simon Tam and joins the crew of Serenity, Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds must navigate a web of government agents, Reavers, and subliminal messages as he tries to protect River and bring down the corrupt Alliance.
