When two peasants, Tahei and Matashichi, are mistaken for Akizuki soldiers and forced to dig graves, they stumble upon a secret stash of gold, leading them on a treacherous journey with a mysterious stranger, who turns out to be the infamous Akizuki general, Makabe Rokurōta.
