When a Soviet tank driver, Ivan Naydenov, recovers from catastrophic burns with retrograde amnesia, he believes he can communicate with tanks as people and becomes obsessed with destroying a mysterious Nazi tank, the White Tiger, which seems to appear and disappear at will.
