When Masao, a young boy from Tokyo's old Shitamachi area, sets out to find his long-lost mother in Toyohashi, he embarks on a journey with Kikujiro, a free-spirited neighbor who becomes an unlikely guardian and friend, encountering eccentric characters, unexpected detours, and life-changing revelations along the way.
